Breast Health at BCMH
Scheduling: 660-200-2370
When it comes to breast health, early detection and compassionate care matter. At Bates County Memorial Hospital, we’re committed to supporting women—and men—through every stage of breast health, from annual screenings to diagnosis and treatment.
Leading Technology, Close to Home
We’re proud to offer 3D mammography with the Hologic Selenia Dimensions system, the most advanced technology available for breast imaging. Combined with Computer-Aided Detection (CAD), your mammogram is given a “second look” by a smart system that supports our radiologist’s initial review—helping to detect cancer at its earliest and most treatable stages.
Did you know?
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Risk increases with age, but breast cancer can also occur in younger women—and even in men.
3D Mammography: A Clearer View
3D mammograms provide multiple image slices of breast tissue, giving radiologists a more detailed view than traditional 2D mammograms alone. This means better accuracy and fewer callbacks for additional imaging.

Screening vs. Diagnostic Mammograms
Screening Mammograms
Screenings are routine mammograms used to check for breast cancer before symptoms appear. Most insurance plans cover the full cost as a preventive service.
American Cancer Society screening guidelines for women at average risk:
- Ages 40–44: Option to begin yearly screening
- Ages 45–54: Yearly screening recommended
- Age 55 and older: Every other year—or continue yearly if preferred
BCMH does not require a doctor’s order for a screening mammogram, but you will be asked to provide your physician’s name when scheduling. If you don’t have a doctor or are uninsured, our Patient Benefit Advisors (PBAs) can help. Call 660-200-2370.
Screening hours:
Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Need a later time? Just ask—we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Diagnostic Mammograms
If you or your provider notices a breast change—like a lump, discharge, or skin changes—a diagnostic mammogram may be ordered. These exams are performed when a radiologist is on-site and may include ultrasound for more detailed imaging.
Diagnostic mammograms require a provider’s order.
