Lace Up for a Healthy Season

Free Sports Physicals at BCMH

We’re making it easier for student-athletes to get their required sports physicals—for free! Our healthcare team is donating their time to help local families by offering free sports physicals on Saturday, July 12, 2025. If your child needs a Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) physical to participate in junior high or high school sports, mark your calendar!

Event Details

📅 Date: Saturday, July 12, 2025
📍 Location: BCMH Lobby, 615 W. Nursery, Butler, MO
Time: Boys: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM & Girls: 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM

What Parents Need to Know

  • Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Physicals are for Bates County students entering grades 6-12.
  • Your child will be assessed by physical therapists, nurses, and physicians to meet MSHSAA requirements.
  • Bring a printed 2025 MSHSAA physical form with the medical history section pre-filled.

Sports Physicals vs. Annual Wellness Exams

A sports physical does not replace a full wellness exam. We strongly encourage parents to schedule an annual wellness visit with their child’s provider. Wellness visits cover more than just sports clearance and are often fully covered by insurance.

Need a different date? If your child can’t make it on July 12, you can schedule a sports physical at a BCMH Family Care Clinic. Call 660-200-3627 to set up an appointment.

Bonus! Free Youth Heart Screenings on June 21

Before your child gets their sports physical, consider getting a free heart screening through My HeartCheck on June 21 at the Bates County Health Center, located at 517 N Orange St, Butler, Missouri. This screening checks for hidden heart conditions that a standard sports physical won’t detect. If your child completes a My HeartCheck screening, BCMH providers can review the results with you at the July 12 sports physical clinic!

Bates County Memorial Hospital is proud to sponsor this My HeartCheck event, alongside Bates County Health Center, and Steve and Peggy Berkebile.
