BCMH Cares Mammogram Fund
The BCMH Cares Mammogram Fund has supported numerous women in our community by providing free screening mammograms.
Early detection can be lifesaving, particularly through recommended mammography screenings. With 1 in 8 women expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, timely screenings are crucial.
Most health insurance plans fully cover annual mammograms, but uninsured women often skip these crucial screenings. The BCMH Cares Mammogram Fund allows uninsured and underinsured women to receive a screening mammogram at no cost.
Please note that while the Cares Fund covers the screening mammogram and any necessary follow-up imaging, patients are responsible for the radiologist’s fee from Alliance Radiology for interpreting the scan. Our Patient Benefit Advisors are available to assist you and can provide details on your out-of-pocket costs.
Who Qualifies?
- Women should present for a baseline mammogram at age 35 and yearly after the age of 40. Those with close family members with a history of breast cancer should talk to their doctor about how often to screen for breast cancer, and their options. - To learn if your health insurance covers mammography screenings, call the phone number found on the back of your health insurance card and ask if your plan covers mammography screenings as a preventive service.
