Welcome to Bates County Memorial Hospital. Thank you for trusting us with your care. This guide is designed to help you prepare for your appointment, inpatient stay, or visit.

Hours & Access
Front Entrance:
- Open Monday–Friday, 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
- Evenings and weekends: Front doors are locked. Please use the Emergency Room entrance on the south side of the hospital. ER parking is available.
Campus Policies:
- Service animals only (ADA compliant)
- Tobacco, vaping, and marijuana free
- No solicitation
- Video surveillance in use
- Weapons prohibited
Visitation
We welcome visitors and ask for your cooperation to maintain a safe and healing environment:
- Quiet hours: 10:00 pm to 6:00 am on inpatient floors
- Call the nurse’s desk before visiting:
- Inpatient/Medical Surgical Unit – 2nd Floor: 660-200-7090
- Check with the nursing station before entering a patient room
- Please do not visit if you have symptoms of illness
Guidelines for visitors:
- Follow staff instructions if asked to leave during patient care
- Ask a nurse before bringing food or drink; avoid sweets, alcohol, cigarettes, or medicine
- Do not eat the patient’s meals; staff must track food intake
- Pediatric patients under age 12 require a family member to stay; a lounge chair and dietary tray will be provided
Visitation Rights:
- Patients may designate visitors and withdraw designation at any time, without restriction based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability
- The hospital may restrict visitation during emergencies, contagious outbreaks, or situations affecting patient care
Meals & Snacks
Cafeteria & Dining Room:
Open to the public seven days a week. Complimentary coffee, tea, and water are available.
Hours:
- Continental Breakfast: 6:30 am – 10:00 am
- Lunch: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
- Supper: 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm (pre-order required unless noted; call 660-200-7000 Ext. 7179 by 3:00 pm)
Vending & Gift Shop:
- Vending machines with snacks and beverages are in the cafeteria and near the ER hallway
- Beverages and snacks are also available in the Gift Shop
Gift Shop
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm (closed 12:00–1:00 pm for lunch)
- Offers gifts, apparel, comfort items, and gift cards
- Run by Auxiliary Volunteers; a portion of proceeds support patient care and hospital equipment
Wi-Fi
BCMH offers free Wi-Fi for patients and guests. Connect by selecting BCMH Guest from available networks.
Spiritual Care
We recognize that spiritual well-being is part of overall health. Our Spiritual Care Program provides support and pastoral care to patients and families, respecting all faiths.
- Volunteer chaplains are available during your stay (arranged through a nurse)
- Non-denominational chapel open 24/7, located in the front lobby, east of the information desk
