The BCMH Cares Mammogram Fund: Bringing Screenings Within Reach
Every woman deserves access to lifesaving breast cancer screenings. At Bates County Memorial Hospital, the BCMH Cares Mammogram Fund helps make that possible by providing free screening mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women in our community.
Why Early Detection Matters
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. But with early detection—especially through routine mammograms—lives can be saved. Regular screenings are one of the most effective tools we have in the fight against breast cancer.
While most health insurance plans cover annual mammograms at no cost, many uninsured women skip these essential screenings. That’s where BCMH Cares steps in—to make sure no one is left behind.
What’s Covered
The BCMH Cares Fund covers:
- Screening mammograms
- Follow-up imaging, if needed
Please note: The fund does not cover the radiologist’s fee for reading the scan. This interpretation is billed separately by Alliance Radiology. If you have questions about out-of-pocket costs, our Patient Benefit Advisors are here to help. Just call 660-200-2370.
Who Qualifies?
- Women should begin baseline mammograms at age 35, and have annual screenings starting at age 40.
- If you have a family history of breast cancer, talk with your provider about personalized screening recommendations.
