Celebrating Dana Hilbus: 47 Years of Dedication to BCMH
On December 19, Butler County Memorial Hospital (BCMH) celebrated the retirement of one of our longest-serving and beloved employees, Dana Hilbus. With 47 years of service to the hospital, her retirement marks the end of a remarkable era in our pharmacy department.
Dana’s journey at BCMH began in the radiology and purchasing departments. However, it was in the pharmacy department where Dana made her greatest impact. As one of the hospital’s first certified pharmacy technicians, she helped shape the pharmacy department into what it is today, working alongside contract pharmacists before the hiring of our first director of pharmacy, Mark Jones.
A reception was held in Dana’s honor, with a room full of colleagues, family, and friends celebrating her remarkable contributions. She received a special gift from BCMH: luggage, as she plans to explore new adventures during her well-deserved retirement. A bouquet of beautiful flowers and a cake rounded off the celebration, and Dana was given a book filled with heartfelt messages from those she has worked with over the years.
CEO Greg Weaver presented Dana with a plaque commemorating her 47 years of service and shared his gratitude for her dedication to the hospital. Dana entertained everyone with memorable stories from her long career, including tales from the early days of the pharmacy department.
Dana’s words of gratitude were heartfelt: “I have really enjoyed working here. It’s just like one big family. I will miss everybody. It has been fun, there’s just been a lot of changes through the years, a lot of people have come and gone, and a lot of people that I will miss.”
Mark Jones, the former Director of Pharmacy, also took a moment to express his appreciation: “If it wasn’t for Dana and how we worked together in the beginning, the pharmacy wouldn’t be where it is today. She’s really given a lot to the hospital.”
Dana’s retirement is a bittersweet moment for all of us at BCMH. We will miss her dedication, kindness, and laughter, but we are excited to see her embark on this new chapter of her life. Dana, thank you for everything you’ve done for our hospital and our community!
