Local lawmakers Senator Rick Brattin (R) and Representative Dane Diehl (R, Dist. 125) joined us on December 5 to tour the new Long-Nissen Infusion Center, witnessing firsthand the innovative strides in healthcare Bates County Memorial Hospital has made in the past year.

The Long-Nissen Infusion Center, which opened in July, is a significant expansion of services for our oncology patients and the surrounding community. The new space allows us to better accommodate patients who rely on vital infusion therapies, including cancer treatments, antibiotics, and other specialized care. This state-of-the-art facility is staffed by our experienced nursing team and supported by a network of visiting specialists, all working together to ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of care in a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

“We were thrilled to have Senator Brattin and Representative Diehl here today to see the difference this expanded facility is making for our patients and our community,” said Greg Weaver, CEO at Bates County Memorial Hospital. “The Long-Nissen Infusion Center represents a significant step forward in our ability to provide essential services to our rural population, and we’re grateful for the ongoing support from our local legislators as we continue to improve and grow to meet the needs of those we serve.”

During their visit, Senator Brattin and Representative Diehl had the opportunity to meet with hospital leadership and board members, hear directly from Infusion Center nurses about their experiences, and discuss the ongoing challenges and opportunities facing rural healthcare providers. Their tour emphasized the critical role that local hospitals like Bates County Memorial play in ensuring access to essential healthcare services for rural communities.

As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, Bates County Memorial Hospital remains committed to offering high-quality care close to home, while also advocating for the resources needed to maintain and expand services like those offered at the Long-Nissen Infusion Center.
