Janice Schapler Retires
After 47 combined years of service, Janice Schapler, one of our most beloved housekeepers, has retired from Bates County Memorial Hospital. We recently gathered to honor Janice and thank her for her unwavering dedication and the positive impact she has had on our hospital and the people within it.
Janice’s journey with BCMH began in her youth as a candy striper, and she later became a CNA, serving for eight and a half years. After a brief hiatus when several hospital workers were laid off, Janice returned to serve in our housekeeping department, where she worked for an astounding 39 years.
In a heartfelt farewell speech, Janice shared, “I’ve formed a lot of relationships I’ll keep for a lifetime, and I care about each one of you. I wish you all the best, and I hope this hospital thrives going forward.” Her kindness, hard work, and care have touched the lives of so many over the years.
Though Janice’s daily presence will be missed, her legacy will always be a part of BCMH. We wish her nothing but the best as she begins this new chapter of her life. Enjoy your retirement, Janice—you’ve truly earned it!
