About Ethan Weeks, DO

Ethan Weeks, DO, is a board-certified family medicine physician who provides comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages. A Bates County native, Dr. Weeks returned to his home community to practice medicine after completing his family medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Dr. Weeks earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Missouri before earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University, where he graduated Cum Laude. During medical school, he served as a leader in the university’s Family Medicine Interest Group and completed three clinical rotations at Bates County Memorial Hospital and Family Care Clinics. He completed his family medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 2023 to 2026, gaining experience caring for patients across the lifespan, including adult, pediatric, geriatric and women’s health, as well as behavioral health.

His clinical interests include preventive care, chronic disease management, metabolic health, obesity medicine, exercise and nutrition, and sports and musculoskeletal medicine. Dr. Weeks takes an evidence-based, patient-centered approach to care and enjoys helping patients understand how their everyday choices, medical conditions and treatments fit together. He emphasizes shared decision-making and works with patients to develop realistic goals that fit their individual needs and circumstances.

Dr. Weeks’ training and experience include management of complex chronic conditions, acute care, hospital follow-up and preventive care, as well as a range of outpatient procedures. His procedural experience includes joint injections, skin biopsies and other dermatologic procedures, cryotherapy, Pap smears, and contraceptive procedures such as IUD and Nexplanon placement.

Dr. Weeks has received multiple academic and teaching honors during his medical education and residency, including the UNMC James Stageman, M.D. Resident Teacher of the Year Award in 2026 and the UNMC Chairman’s Honor Roll in 2025. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and holds a Missouri medical license.

Dr. Weeks began his medical career at Bates County Memorial Hospital, where he worked as a medical scribe in Family Care Clinics before attending medical school. Returning to practice in the community where his interest in medicine began is especially meaningful to him.
