Volunteer Spotlight

BCMH Volunteer Spotlight: Norman Black

Norman Black is a member of the Bates County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteers. As a member he works three five-hour shifts a week at the information desk and takes minutes for Auxiliary meetings.

Norman has worked as a licensed practical nurse, pastor, Christian school principal and administrator. Just recently, Norm added published author to his list of accomplishments with his book, “A Merry Heart”, a compilation of clean, funny stories. Those who have met Norm will appreciate that his gift for supplying an appropriate joke for every occasion has been put into print. “A Merry Heart” is now available on a consignment basis in the Auxiliary Gift Shop.

Now retired, Norman enjoys volunteering in the community, assisting a local church, and making frequent fishing trips to the lake.

BCMH appreciates Norman, and all of our volunteers, for lending humanity and heart to the patient and employee experience.
