Operation Sock-It-To-Me: A Simple Gift That Warms the Whole Community

When cold weather rolls in, something as simple as a pair of warm socks can make all the difference for a child. That’s why the BCMH Auxiliary is once again hosting its annual Operation Sock-It-To-Me campaign, a project that brings comfort, warmth, and a reminder of community care to local students in need.

The 2025 campaign begins on Tuesday, September 2, and continues through October 31. Community members are encouraged to donate new socks for children and teens, ages 5–18. Collection boxes will be available in the BCMH lobby and at Family Care Clinics in Adrian, Butler and Rich Hill. Donations can be dropped off on weekdays, and volunteers ask that socks remain in their original packaging to make sorting easier.

Every pair of socks collected will be delivered to Bates County schools before the winter holidays, where school staff will distribute them to students in grades K–12.

Over the years, Operation Sock-It-To-Me has become more than a collection drive — it’s a tradition of neighbors helping neighbors. With the support of donors, the Auxiliary continues to meet a basic need in a way that directly touches the lives of children right here in Bates County.

The BCMH Auxiliary thanks everyone who joins in making the 2025 campaign another success. Together, we can turn a small gift into a warm reminder of community care.
