Celebrating 65 Years of Care at BCMH
On September 16, 1960, Bates County Memorial Hospital opened its doors for the very first time. This year, we are proud to celebrate 65 years of providing care close to home, and we invite you to join the celebration.
Community Celebration
- Date: Tuesday, September 16, 2025
- Time: 1:30 – 3:00 pm
- Location: BCMH front parking lot (north side)
Stop by for a sweet treat from the One More Scoop ice cream truck! Pick up your free ticket in our front lobby, then head outside for handmade ice cream — one scoop in a cone or two scoops in a cup. Patients, employees, volunteers, and community members are all welcome.
If you’re new to BCMH, we invite you to take a quick tour of our facility during the celebration. See where to go for labs, imaging, specialty clinics, surgery, rehab, and more.
A Look Back
Healthcare in Bates County began long before our current facility was built, with dedicated physicians and small private hospitals serving the community’s needs. In the 1950s, local residents recognized the need for a modern hospital. Through determination, collaboration, and community support, Bates County Memorial Hospital became a reality in 1960.
Over the decades, BCMH has grown to meet the changing needs of our patients — expanding services, adding technology, and welcoming providers who are committed to high-quality care. What began as a community dream has become a vital, trusted resource for thousands of families.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate 65 years, we honor our roots while continuing to move forward. Our mission remains the same: to continuously improve the health of the people of our community.
