BCMH Honors Shannon Bjerke for 28 Years Supporting Hospital Leadership

BCMH Board President Jerry Jones recognized Shannon Bjerke during her final board meeting in February.

Bates County Memorial Hospital celebrated Shannon Bjerke, CPS on her retirement on March 10, 2026 after 28 years of dedicated service.

Shannon joined BCMH in September 1998 as administrative assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, a role she held throughout her career. Over the years, Shannon worked with six different CEOs, each bringing unique perspectives and changes to the hospital.

In addition to supporting the hospital’s leadership and medical staff, Shannon assisted the BCMH Board of Directors by preparing meeting packets and recording minutes. In recognition of her contributions, the board presented her with a plaque at her final meeting in February. Shannon also provided valuable support to the Bates County Community Health Foundation.

Shannon’s attention to detail and organizational skills have been consistently appreciated by fellow employees and leadership. She was named employee of the month twice, most recently in January 2024.

Reflecting on her career, Shannon said she most valued working alongside employees who are passionate about their profession and committed to putting patients first.

“I was proud to work at a hospital that provides numerous services for the Bates County community,” she said.

BCMH extends heartfelt thanks to Shannon for her dedication and service and wishes her all the best in retirement.

Board members presented Shannon Bjerke with a gift certificate on her last day. The gift was presented by Linda Jennings.
